Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park: Quiet River Redwoods and Riverside Trails

Along the Eel River in Humboldt Redwoods State Park area, Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park offers secluded old-growth groves beside the South Fork Eel River. This smaller, quieter unit provides shaded trails and river access; a peaceful redwood retreat away from crowds.

A Riparian Redwood and River Mosaic

Grizzly Creek blends dense coast redwoods (ancient and second-growth), ferns, and the Eel River's riparian zone. The river supports salmon/steelhead runs; wildlife includes black bears, deer, birds, and banana slugs in the moist, shaded understory.

Adventure With a Conservation Conscience

Short trails (e.g., Cheatham Grove loop, 0.6 mile) through groves; river access for wading/picnicking. Campground along river.

Access is intentional: free day-use, sunrise to sunset, pack out waste, stay on paths. Seasonal river levels affect access; no pets on trails.

Grizzly Creek Redwoods State Park delivers quiet river redwoods hiking in serene shade. For those craving riverside groves and solitude, the trails reward gentle steps; a hushed redwood haven.
